Yarn-a-go-go comes to town (that would be Emeryville!)

Yarn-a-go-go, aka run-a-go-go, aka Rachael is making the long trek from Oakland to Emeryville to teach a class at knit-one-one---yeay! (For those non Bay Area readers, this is a mere 5 miles or so) As readers of her blog know, she always has a pair of socks on the go (no pun intended) and so socks seemed like a natural. The design she whipped up for this class has a lovely lace pattern---very suitable for a Spring sock don't you think?

Many of you have asked how I managed to get yarn-a-go to teach a class. And of course it all happened because of blogs. Stephen of Hizknits fame and I are both lovers of the water, dogs and of course knitting so he and I had been in touch. He mentioned that I should check out yarn-a-go-go. Almost simultaneously I was reading Rebecca's blog in which yarn-a-go-go featured. I immediately hit the yarn-a-go-go link and was enchanted by her style and the fabulous range of her knitted goodies. So I e-mailed her. We met, we talked,we ate, and we laughed and the next thing you know we are taking pictures for the site and planning the class.

It begins in a week and I can't wait.

Want a sneak peak? Check these cuties out, and check the class out too!

The magic of felting

I was lucky when I was a child because I don't remember my mother ruining a beloved sweater! (Well there are other reasons I was lucky too, but I won't bore you with those) Maybe it is because of this lack of childhood trauma, that I am so enchanted by the felting process. The Temescal Bag class ended a few weeks ago and it was thrilling to toss the bags into the washing machine looking one way and then fishing them out looking completely different. It is magical. Really magical. For those of you who are equally enchanted by the process or who have never tried felting, sign up for the Heavenly Hat ---a felted hat class with Tammy Ms Punkrawkpurl herself. For the felting faint of heart: Note: We felt the items for you here at knit-one-one. What service! Can you all see the photo of Janice with her Temescal Bag and modeling the Heavenly Hat? Janice is one of those people who says she "can't" wear a hat. See the hat looks great on her, right? I told you that the Heavenly Hat looks good on everyone!
