knitting,cakes and the wedding season

It is definitely the wedding season---and especially so among knit-one-one knitters. Betsy and Ricardo are getting married in August and we spent many hours a few weeks ago knitting yellow flowers for the event. Ricardo was in a sweater class that I took at Article Pract with teacher Ms Julie r . The class morphed into a wonderful knitting group, "The Knitiots". Betsy joined the group and so that is how we all became friends.

The next picture is of the great cake made by Jennifer at Sweet Adeline. (Knit-one-one will have an installation at Sweet Adeline ---more about that in another post) But Jennifer is making the cake for Bridget and Joe's wedding---called the "Over the Top Chocolate Cake" and it is divine.

Bridget is my god- daughter. Her mother, Margaret, with whom I had gone to high school in Ireland, died 3 years and so Bridget and I have had great fun doing all kinds of fun wedding stuff together. It is a bitter sweet experience for us both because of course we miss Margaret terribly and would love to have her with us on our adventures.

The next weddding is Molly's. Molly and I met at SCAM, which is our swim team. Molly is getting married in September to Tyson---you have seen a pic of him with their dog! At a class Molly was taking at knit-one-one we were thrilled to see her appear one night with a big garment bag. And we ooohed and aaahed over her incredibly cute wedding dress wedding dress. IN the pic that's Molly on the left (pic taken at the launch party)

I am off to Sea Ranch for a few days but will be back for the knitting evening hosted by Tammy at Entrez-Open House (my new favorite store) And of course I will be here for the Finish That Project Class with Ms Julie. I am am sure to have lots of unfinished projects after my Sea Ranch sojourn. What about you?

Yarn boy teaches writing

Just a short post to let you know that our friend Jesse L, knit-one-one instructor, aka yarn boy (although he has retired from blog writing for now) is teaching some fabulous classes this summer. And no alas, they are not knitting classes but they are great anyway! Some of you may have heard Jesse's commentaries on KQED's perspective series. Now Jesse will teach you how you too can create a great piece for the perspective series. As many of you know, Jesse is a terrific teacher---clear, patient, encouraging and humorous.

His other class this summer is a poetry class. Doesn't that sound as if it would fit so naturally with knitting? Well I think it does anyhow. Imagine yourself reading poetry, doing a little knitting, writing a poem or two, doing a little knitting, discussing poetry followed by a little...........Actually Jesse never mentioned the knitting part to me but I can't imagine that he would object! (If he does, let me know!)

Out of touch and Magical Mystery Sakura scarves

Sorry for missing my weekly post but in fact I was busy, busy, busy. Doing what you may ask. The answer: planning for Fall. Fall I tell you. And I am a person who does not like making advance plans at all. Look at what this business has done to me! But in fact the reason I was frantically putting classes together for the Fall is that the wonderful Emily (not what I was calling her last week!) has left the country for almost 2 months. Two months. So I had to get September completely planned and October kind of planned so that she can post them in the few days when she lands on US soil some time in July. If I sound as if I am jealous, well I am. I mean who wouldn't be: off to Ecuador, then New Zealand and Australia. But the fact of the matter is that I miss her!

Some of you have e-mailed me to ask if we are going to have a Magical Mystery Party in the Summer. Kateand I are consulting. Watch this space.

I have posted some pics from the last Magical Mystery Party---we made the Nagano Sakura Scarf from Knitty. Didn't they turn out well?
